<p>The 110th FS is the flying component of the 131st TFW and has operated the F-15A since 1991 with a C-12F support. Activated in June 1923, the squadron was mobilized in December 1940 until February 1946. The squadron returned to federal control in September 1946 as the 110th Fighter Squadron, and flew the P-51D when recalled to active duty in March 1951. The unit returned to state control again in December 1952 and re-equipped with the B-26B, becoming the 110th Bombardment Squadron. It changed to a Fighter-Interceptor Squadron in 1957 with the F-80C, followed by the F-84F before switching to a Tactical Fighter Squadron in January 1960. During the Berlin crisis the squadron was activated and deployed to Toul-Rosières AB, France from the end of 1961 until August 1962. Upon return to Lambert Field the squadron converted to the F-100C and later the F-100D, before upgrading to the F-4C in 1979. The unit operated the F-4E from February 1985 until 1991, when the F-15A was introduced.
